1-Repo Man – British director Alex Cox’s mixture of sci-fi and punk centers around two car repossession guys, Harry Dean Stanton and Emilo Estevez.

2-Akira – A new wave of Japanese animation heralded a new explosion in anime with this futuristic tale concerning corrupt institutions, friendship and telekinesis, plus the world as we know it being at stake!

3- Nosferatu- Even though made in 1922, this F.W.Murnau silent take on the vampire legend takes some beating when it comes to mood and atmosphere.

4- Barbarella – Any film that contains the line ‘I better adjust my tongue box’ has to be worth a look. Plus Jane Fonda in high boots.

5- Scarlet Street – Dark film noir from Fritz Lang, this psychological thriller mixes a French book, Austrian director, and American actors with great results.

6- Strangers on a Train – Hitchcock’s masterful adaptation of Patricia Highsmith’s novel never fails to deliver, awash with themes and subplots among the suspense.

7- The Wicker Man – early 1970′s British horror/mystery unparallelled in it’s sense of place, with a script and a soundtrack as unique as the film.

8- The Cars That Ate Paris – No, not Paris, France, but an Australian town where unusual goings on involving cars and accidents in this great mix of comedy and horror.

9- The Harder They Come- A Jamaican crime film starring reggae singer Jimmy Cliff as a singer caught up in drug dealing. A milestone of cinema and cinema music.

10- Hard Boiled – John Woo’s Hong Kong action film that makes previous action films look like My Little Pony and propelled Chow Yun-fat to international stardom.
