Christmas Favorites

It’s getting to be that time of year when we start a fired, grab a cup of hot cocoa and hunker down to watch our favorite holiday films. If you’ve been stuck on the same old film year after year here’s a list of a few that you might have forgotten about to spark your festivities. All I Want for Christmas (1991) is a comedy about two children in New York who create a plan to get what they most want for Christmas to see their parents back together again. Christmas in Connecticut (1945) is a comedy/romance about a food writer who has been caught in a lie about her being the perfect housewife and must now try to hide her fib when her boss and a returning war veteran invite themselves to her home for the “ideal” traditional Christmas. Jingle All the Way (1996) stars Arnold Schwarzenegger as a busier-than-get-out father who decides to find the year’s hottest toy for his son right before Christmas Day you can only imagine the hijinx that ensue.Bad Santa (2003) may not be suitable for children, and may not be the traditional “feel good” Christmas story, but it sure is funny. The plot line involves a down-and-out conman and his partner who pose as Santa and his helper to rob department stores when they get sidelined and befriended by an adorable, if troubled, kid. Prancer (1989) is the story of the daughter of an impoverished farmer who still believes in Santa Claus when she comes upon a reindeer who has an injured leg which she hides in her barn to nourish back to health until Santa can reclaim him.
